Imbizo House is a holiday home set high in the hills above the picturesque fishing town of Knysna on South Africa’s Western Cape. Lydia Residence | Driss Kettani

This five-storey residential building in Casablanca, Morocco, features three typical floors and two set back storeys, all apartments having balconies / terraces. These terraces offer an exterior space but also a buffer space between the interior and the narrow street.

Fass School and Teachers’ Residences | Toshiko Mori Architects

Situated in remote Senegal, the new Fass School and Teachers’ Residence is the first school in a region of over 110 villages to provide secular education alongside traditional Quranic teaching. A project completed in collaboration with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation and Le Korsa, the school can serve up to 300 students from ages 5 through 10.

Floating Dune House | Slee & Co Architects

The term “peace” could easily have found its origin between the Outeniqua forest and the long open Atlantic ocean, both of which are an integral part of this holiday home. An elegantly crafted box floats on top of tree tops towards the north and sensitively touches the sand dune on the south.

Children’s Home in Nosy Be | Aut Aut Architettura

Giovanna per il Madagascar Onlus is an NPO active in Madagascar for 20 years now. More specifically it operates in Nosy Be island, assisting children affected by diabetes and limb malformations. Since Madagascar is characterized by high poverty and low literacy rates, the NGO is undertaking a new mission to help abandoned children, providing them with a home where to sleep and where daily meals are available, a place where they can be treated by doctors and a community where they can study and play.

House Liebmann | Daffonchio and Associates

Clean lined, brickwork and steel structure appears to emerge from the landscape. The earthy base structure of the house creeps out from the hilly landscape where light floating roofs that extend over the patio create an open air entertainment area.
