Battery Park | dhk Architects

Battery Park is a new 12 000 sqm (1.2 hectares) urban park situated at a key entranceway to one of Africa’s most visited tourist destinations, the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa. Developed as the nucleus of a larger urban vision for the district, the site includes a park and piazza that effectively conceal a 1 206-bay parking facility as well as new pedestrian routes to invigorate the precinct with activity. The site is of archaeological importance as it contains the remnants of one of the city’s oldest structures, coastal fortification the Amsterdam Battery.

Dawar El Ezba Cultural Center | Ahmed Hossam Saafan

Dawar Kitchen is a social enterprise located in Ezbet Khairallah, one of Cairo’s largest informal settlements. French Embassy in Accra | Segond-Guyon Architectes

The project is located within the French Ambassador Residence in Ghana. This site is remarkable due to the architecture value of the Building, rare colonial architecture from the 50’s, and the quality of the 3ha Park’s landscape. The architectural language of the new Embassy finds its inspiration in the respect of these two major components of the site.

African Opera Village | Kéré Architecture

The idea to construct an opera village came about as the result of the visionary idea of Christoph Schlingensief and a catastrophic national disaster. Film and theatre director Schlingensief first approached the Berlin-based studio of Francis Kere with the task of building an opera in the middle of the town of Laongo.
